If you were watching my live video on this topic, you would notice I am a little more casual than usual. That is because today is about celebrating our wins as a company and we are taking the entire office to TopGolf!
I thought this was a perfect time to share with you the importance of celebrating victories with your entire team. Gone are the times when only the executives are rewarded for driving revenue. We are finally realizing, WITHOUT THE ENTIRE TEAM, the goals will not be met. You need every single person on your team to show up and contribute. When they do, their effort needs to be recognized.
Let’s think about how this affects the mind when you attend an event like this. First, it creates a state of anticipation as you wait for the big event. There is a theory (read more here) anticipation creates more intense emotion than those events that have actually happened. Second, it stimulates the senses the day of the event, which opens us up emotionally and helps create bonds within the team. And finally, it builds the team through a collective memory of times enjoyed.
When you are deciding on your celebration event, make sure you keep in mind the mission: TO HAVE FUN! Do not try to sneak training in with celebration. Let your team know this is their time to be rewarded.
