I was determined to hunker down and read and write over the Fourth of July weekend. Fortunately, my plans did not play out the way I wanted. First, I had a client (my intrepreneur role) call with a request to interview several candidates in my office the following week. Duty calls, so I got on the phone and arranged the interviews at my office. (I will let you know week after next if we were successful in a hire.) My more exciting news, however, was I was contacted by a company I initially met at the SmartFem Conference to collaborate on a webinar!
Branders, this is exactly what I was hoping for by launching my personal branding website; an easy way to find me, explanation of my services, and credibility because I went the extra step to develop a professional website for those companies to find me.
After an extensive conversation with Yasmin Murray and Granison Shines of Seduire International, it was decided I would join them in September of 2019 for a webinar on leadership skills. Our content is still being decided, but I will keep you posted on the upcoming national event.
This is a breakdown of what has occurred so far: I met with my Tribe over a year ago and decided to pursue launching a personal brand. (Mindset – I fixed in my mind what I wanted to accomplish and my mind targeted its accomplishment.) I attended the SmartFem Summit the end of April, which encouraged me to launch my website by June 3, 2019. (MasterMind – new blog from Think and Grow Rich coming soon on this topic.) Now, as of July 4, 2019, I have been engaged as a guest for a national webinar.
Still doubt the value of personal branding? In addition to this, because of my dedication to building a brand within a brand, VIP has invested in a professionally produced podcast (Coming soon: We Are VIP Podcast!) with me as the host. I have decided to change my branding title from personal to executive branding as I feel the brand I am building is to support my current company while still being a brand which describes me.
Sound like a lot of bragging? Do not be afraid to shout out your accomplishments! For years, I was the wallflower who waited for others to recognize my contributions. Today, I have decided I will not diminish or make light of my accomplishments and neither should you. I am trying to illustrate what is possible when you are dedicated to your professional growth.
(Quick sidenote – do not compare yourself to those who have been in the game far longer than you. When you first begin your journey, you cannot expect to be at the same level as someone who is five years ahead of you. I made this mistake already and it only slowed me down.)
Everything worth having requires hard work and effort. My next couple of months will require an extraordinary amount of effort to accomplish everything I need to do. I had a conversation with my adult son about two hours ago letting him know the next month was going to be crazier than usual and we would probably have limited time to chat. Be sure to communicate with your loved ones as you pursue your dream so you gain their support and buy-in.
Thank you for sharing this journey with me. This blog is a real-time documentary of my executive branding story from the very beginning. Many of you are far past this point, but for those of you just embarking, I hope you find hope in my notes.
