The message of getting your mindset right has been very prevalent in all my reading, listening, and conversations with other thought leaders recently. More so than usual. I wonder as we go through this conversation together if it is because I have set my mind on mindset and therefore I see the topic more often? Is there more truth here than we realize?
As I pondered this, I was reminded of a Hal Elrod: Achieve Your Goals podcast with the one and only 3FootGiant, Dr. Sean Stephenson (listen here). The topic was the cure to your insecurities; however, the message was it all begins in your head. Let’s start with a little background on Dr. Stephenson so you understand how powerful his message of success is. First, he is really only three feet tall, cannot walk, and has broken most bones in his body at some point in his life due to a rare disease, which causes his bones to very brittle. He was predicted to die at birth, yet has not only survived, he has thrived!
He mentions in the podcast if he were in any other package (body), you would not see him and hear his message. He has extreme gratitude for the body he has been given and the message he has to share.
What is his Unstoppable Formula for Happiness?
- Focus on what you want (goals) not on what you do not want.
- Focus on what you have (gratitude) not on what you do not have (envy).
- Focus on what you like (desires), not on what you do not like.
Seem like a pretty simple formula? I challenge you to try it for a week. You will find your attention swerving to those ideas you have fixed in your mind without you even trying. Have you ever noticed if you are looking at cars and decide on a blue Toyota Camry how you start seeing them everywhere? Your mind is focused on this one car. We sometimes call them coincidences, but there are no coincidences.
Learn to tame the inner voice in your head to be obedient to your goals and desires. I am not saying all you have to do is think about something and it will happen. I am reiterating Dr. Stephenson’s and many other thought leaders’ belief of the mind being a powerful tool. Use your tool wisely and you will be successful.
Happy Podcasting!
